Joachim Maudet, Cie Les Vagues, KID #1, 2024, creation

KID #1 is the first chapter in a cycle about childhood. It recounts the abrupt transition from the playground, where children play, to the grown-up's playground, where bodies stop playing and gestures become codified. This creation is a continuation of Joachim Maudet's work on the relationship between body and voice, and takes the form of a solo with several voices, a group piece in a single body.

Born in Brittany, Joachim Maudet graduated from the CNSMDP in Paris in 2012. As a performer, he has worked with Tatiana Julien, Arthur Perole, Noord Nederlandse Dans (Holland), National Dance Company Wales (UK), Samuel Faccioli and Bérangère Fournier, Christian Ubl, Léa Tirabasso, Ambra Senatore, Leonard Rainis and Katell Hartereau. He also worked as an outside eye on Chloé Zamboni's Magdalena and Mathilde Bonicel's Scappare. Alongside his career as a performer, Joachim created the company Les Vagues in 2017. He creates the duo ˈstɔːriz in 2019, the solo GIGI in 2021 and the trio W̶E̶L̶COME in 2022, premiered at KLAP Maison pour la danse as part of the Parallèle festival. KID#1 is his fourth play and opens a cycle of work on the theme of childhood.
